I'm hearing the high tech manufacturing is doing good in Austin. In fact I think alot of places are probably hiring. They usually pay pretty good and offer the best benefits.

Right. To each his/her own. I personally prefer to be an owner and have been an owner for most of my adult life, starting from 21.

Considering our home is still worth double what we've paid and what we've paid gets you a starter home in a so-so neighborhood on a postage stamp sized lot, you'd best believe buying nine years ago was one of our better decisions. While no one wants the sky to fall, thankfully the mortgage is doable and would be probably less than rent for a similarly sized rent house. The lower fixed mortgage definitely helped when both of us dealt with pay cuts in 2020.
