I saw that there were threads devoted to downtown development and construction, so I figured I'd start one where we could share news about development happening in the entire city/county and metro area.
To start things off, I saw this on the agenda for next weeks committee meetings:

"Janksowski Properties LLC is in the process of completing a master plan for a 306 acre tract on the Savannah River just upstream from the Lock and Dam. The plan includes a marina, some commercial development and potentially 500 residential units."

I hope the development happens. South Augusta would go to another level rather quickly. South Augusta would have it's own waterfront area. There are acres and acres of empty land in outer South Augusta(near Hephzibah, Blythe, Mcbean, Waynesboro). It would have a domino effect on new construction.
Firm considers development along Savannah River | The Augusta Chronicle
A horseshoe bend in the Savannah River near Augusta Regional Airport is the proposed site for a 306-acre development of single-family and assisted living homes.
The 410-lot development would include 20 acres of 11-bedroom cottages for "wounded warriors" and others in need of assisted living, according to Don Drum, the lead engineer for the project.
The group has looked at building a road on the levee or using a road that winds through nearby New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam Park, Drum said.

The School House (Location:Summerville)... Phase 1 twelve luxury condominiums ranging from one to three bedrooms. Phase 2 the construction of 12 townhomes along Katherine and Cumming Streets and the side alley as well. These homes will be clustered to comprise 5 free standing structures that will include private garages and terraces, and will enclose the common greenspace.
The SchoolHOUSE William Robinson
Evans Town Park (Location: Evans)... Orthopaedic Associates of Augusta and Advanced Pain Management are under construction. A Family Y, Pediatric Partners, and Dermatology Specialist of Augusta will start construction. In the near future.

The Aiken Family Y on Trolley Line Road (Near Trolley Run Station and USCA) is currently receiving site prep work, construction should start soon, yesterday the Y made the city of Aiken's list to receive a couple hundred thousand tax dollars. I'll post a link to the building design if I can remember what the name of the architect is...
