UMA 1. since Ann arbor is probably beyond your budget and your kid would hate you if you moved into the same town anyway, Some of the neat areas you might look at are:
Plymouth, Saline, Chelsea, Dexter, Tecumseh, Downtown or Midtown Detroit, Wyandotte, South Lyon, Novi, Canton, Brighton, Milford,
If you ask your kid, they would probably suggest hougton.
