A recent study published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications, which used twins to more sensitively probe effects (one gets the treatment and the other gets placebo), found cognitive benefits of regularly ingesting prebiotic fiber. I actually had 1lb of powdered organic inulin around here that I had forgotten about... going to start including a couple of teaspoons (6g) in my oatmeal.

Quaker actually includes inulin powder in their high fiber oatmeals - they call it "chicory root extract", but that's what that is.

I am also putting in oatmeal, but start with their plain oatmeal, I suppose it will go well in yogurt too, so I'll try that as well.

P.S. One thing about these probiotics and prebiotics, is they do make you a little gassy, but that's how you know it's working ;-)
