What do you think of sherry? I seem to remember having that years ago and really liking it. But I don't remember what it tastes like.

I love sherry! My favorite is Croft pale cream sherry. It's not as eye watering as dry sherry but nowhere near as sweet as dessert sherries.

Dessert sherry is good in small quantities imo it's very sweet with molasses, raisins, toffee flavors.

Then there are the various types in between.

Read up on sherry and attend tastings at places like Total Wine.

Cheers!

Thank you! The Croft pale cream sounds like a nice middle between dry and full on cream sherry. The price is fantastic, too!

Sherry can be tasty, it's also good in some classical sauces for cooking. For drinking though, I prefer a tawny port - another fortified wine - and I like to sip a little bit on a cold winter evening :-) As RubyandPearl noted, they are pretty sweet, plus, they're potent alcohol-wise - both are wine blended with brandy, so if drinking it, I usually just sip a few ounces. Port pairs well with a little bit of chocolate, or some unsalted hazelnuts and walnuts...
