We need a new Africa question. If you went to Africa, would you expect your overall travel experience to be unusual? In what way?

Well we have just been to South Africa and we expected and found that what was unusual (to us) and what is a major problem to the country was “load shedding” ie constant planned cuts to the power supply. It impacts almost every aspect of the lives of the people.

As we have been there before, twenty-five years ago, we did also expect to see amazing wildlife, wonderful scenery and interesting people. All of which we found.

We are going to Morocco in October and there we are expecting a completely different experience to that of South Africa.

I've been to Africa multiple times so maybe I shouldn't answer.
But before my trips I realized Africa is extremely diverse, I did my research - from Egypt down to South Africa. You can't classify it. As was stated, totally different experiences. The only thing that applies is "TIA". Things don't really work well down there, things break down, don't work well, disorganized, but you just accept it and flow with it...because This is Africa.

I plan on going to Morocco and Cape Verde. I have high expectations that the people, food, culture and sites will be interesting.

Depends which part of Africa.

Northern Africa expectations would be much different than Sub-Saharan.

Coastal areas much different than inland.
