Remarks: ID BY SMITHSONIAN, FAA 2956. DURING STUDENT INSTRUCTIONAL FLT, SEVERAL BIRDS WERE IN THE VICINITY OF THE DEPARTURE COURSE ABOUT 1/4 MILE AHEAD. AT APPROX 300 FT AGL, ONE OF THE CLOSER BIRDS CROSSED THE FLT PATH AND WAS HIT BY RT WING ON LEADING EDGE. THERE WAS A 3-4 INCH OVAL SHAPED AREA ABOUT 3 INCHES ABOVE THAT FROM WHICH THE PAINT WAS LOST. NO DEFORMATION TO WING STRUCTURE. A FEATHER SAMPLE WAS COLLECTED.
