Interesting cluster of LED lighting companies in Syracuse:
While Eaton Corporation's Syracuse-based Crouse-Hinds division may be the largest manufacturer of LED and other lighting products in CNY and the center of R&D activity, I was surprised to see a small cluster of companies based in the Syracuse area that specialize in LED lighting products for commercial businesses and major facilities across the U.S and the world:
Aquarii is a new LED lighting company that is scaling up operations. Several top Aquarii executives own TDK Engineering Associates, a Camillus-based firm that partnered with two other Central New York companies to design the beacon for the last section of the spire topping New York City's Freedom Tower, also referred to as One World Trade Center.
Wait a second, I thought all manufacturing had left upstate New York. What happened?
