There isn't a lot of crop spraying around Sioux Falls with crop dusters. With the very large spraying applicators owned by the elevators where they can fly over a field in an hour or two there's little need.
Crop dusting is very safe if done when there is little to no wind creating drift. It's just one more thing for brain dead environmental activists to have to b**ch about.
The air quality is exceptionally good in South Dakota unless you live close to a feed lot (especially after a rain) or a farmer is spreading liquid manure from a confinement unit (which would happen usually only once or twice a year). There aren't a lot of extremely large feed lots or huge commercial hog operations around here. There are quite a few smaller ones. Just don't buy property next to one and then start complaining that it smells. The farmer was there first.
If you want to experience air quality issues due to animal confinement units you only have to cross the border to Sioux County Iowa. Now THERE'S air quality issues.
Sioux Falls periodically would get an "aromatic" smell from the Smithfield packing house. I can say as someone who's lived around here my whole life that the smell occasionally generated there has lessoned a lot from years past.
