Do we underestimate and downplay how Great Sacramento weather really is? (San Diego: to live, floor)

Human nature maybe? I can't tell you how common it was for people in Santa Barbara to complain anytime it was gloomy. We're talking 65 to 70 degrees with an inversion layer, while anywhere on the other side of the first hill might be 105. These same people would, if pressed, admit that SB's weather was about as good as it gets on, y'know, earth, so it seems like just like complaining.

Comparing Chicago with SAC, at 5:00 pm shows why my 90/55 is a fair representation of Sac summer ave temps. Chicago shows 86 right now, Sacramento shows 89, assuming these were high temps for the day and recorded as such, record books show us hotter for that day, but it's not quite accurate.

Chicago's heat index was 90, SAC's was 85 today. Most record stats don't capture that.

The 90/55 average is a combination of weather.com and national weather service -- it does not reflect the heat index.

So if you did account for heat index, Sacramento's average temps for the Summer would be 86/55.

SAC's heat index is almost always 3-5 degrees cooler than the actual high temp.

Cute, well you should because SAC is a mediterranean climate, in fact, SAC is on the dry side as Med climates go. It can get hella humid in Barcelona, Nice or Naples compared to SAC.

Probably shouldn't underestimate or downplay how very dangerous triple-digit heat with very low humidity can be. Imagine you're in a car with no A/C and get stuck in a traffic jam on the causeway in the early afternoon. Hope you have bottled water in the car and are young and healthy.

Yes, but you are NOT speaking to the premise of the thread. What about the other 300 days of really good Sacramento weather as compared to many other areas of the nation. Do we appreciate or even realize how good we really have it?

You could be stuck in the middle of any road, just about anywhere in the USA with inclement weather and have issues at anytime of the year.

Fresno 69, Seattle 61, Portland 58, SAC 58

Sac's low temps have been below or the same as Seattle/Portland for the last several weeks.
Point being, Sac is much cooler half the day and night than the rest of Central Valley...and half the nation.
