Anyone know of where it is being restored? And future oppotunities to see him up close?
Thanks.
The Independent Man is being restored at the Armory. The state hinted that people might be able to view him before he climbs back up the statehouse dome, but I don’t think there has been anything definitive announced.

I wish I had taken a picture with him when he was displayed at the Warwick Mall back in the day. I did not give two cents then and I only had a Polaroid. It would have been pretty neat to have then and now pictures.

For sure. Those pictures would have been RI Keepsakes.
The statue is being restored at the N Main Street Armory by Rhode Island School of Design graduate and nationally recognized conservator Mark Rabinowitz, who also worked on the U.S. Capitol and Jefferson Memorial.
The Independent Man came down because the pedestal it sat atop had structural issues. While the statue renovation may soon be completed, it cannot be returned until its statehouse base has first been taken care of.
“According to Gov. Dan McKee's office, the statue will be back inside the State House on Saturday, May 4 − just in time for Rhode Island's Independence Day.“
The story gives more info on how to view the iconic statue before he returns to his perch atop the statehouse.
Looking forward to seeing it up close, and in person!
