Hello-
My elderly mom got a condemnation hearing notice after receiving a notice to remove an upstairs living area a friend and his unruly daughter were staying in rent free. Also to stop repair work on attic windows. Code enforcement never entered the property. Only the police noted violations which also include improper outlets/wiring, smoke detectors.

The upstairs room has been shut down except for a sink that needs removing per agreement with code enforcement. Work was halted in the attic. Without notice or further contact, code enforcement left a condemnation notice.

All said, I feel most of the issues can be fixed but I am worried about other electrical and remodeling that looks poor and may have been done without a permit decades ago by her late husband.

* I am planning on consulting a attorney her church recommended.
* I called code enf. they had no formal list of all violations.

I am not sure what the best plan would be from here. Also if she cant keep the house, would I need another attorney to handle that?

Any guidance would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you!
