Power outages coming to NYC by 2025, and maybe upstate too, report says (excerpts below):

“With the additional peakers unavailable, the bulk power transmission system will not be able to securely and reliably serve the forecasted demand in New York City,” the report says.

The NYISO report says the peaker shutdowns are not the only factor that could spur outages. Increased demand from the electrification of vehicles and buildings is also placing strains on the grid.

In the coming months, NYISO will identify solutions. Among them will be keeping some of the peaker plants operating, a decision likely to be challenged by environmental advocates. Several groups have been pushing the state to shut down peakers located in densely populated communities of color in the Bronx and Queens dubbed “Asthma Alley” for high rates of respiratory illness
What do we elect legislators for? I thought they were supposed to be protecting us from catastrophe. Instead, they are busy promoting a pipe dream that renewable power will suddenly materialize. Hopefully they can take some time out of their schedules to study this looming issue.

They have their own agenda and it doesn't include you and me. Not even their most faithful supporters. That will come as a shock. Just sit down, shut up and obey orders, no mater how stupid they are.

So, what is the plan for the communities that live near the peaker plants, whether they stay or go?

This is an interesting article that states that peaker plants aren't going anywhere any time soon: https://www.lohud.com/story/news/202...s/69695389007/

That article is so May 17, 2023, or two months old. Superseded.

Maybe NY will just flood the L. Ontario shoreline so the lights stay on in Gotham.

Like they did a while ago...

I believe that the St. Lawrence River was experiencing flooding at the same time. Some say it was due to regulations and others due to natural factors.

Yes, the flooding was ALL caused by Plan 2014. Signed into law by obama as he was walking out the door. The plan was disguised as an environmental program, having higher highs, and lower lows. All there has been is the higher highs.

They literally close the dams, to save the water for hydro power, but ALL of the media blamed "climate change". The effected residents, many life long waterfront residents know what is going on. Now, the shoreline residents assume ALL the risk of flooding every spring so NYC can get their electricity.

Oh, did I mention, they shut down the Indian Point nuclear power plant, 50 miles north of NYC because the residents were scared of an accident there. That plant provided 25% of NYC's electricity.

And that's how democrats operate. Take from one to give to someone who is likely to vote for them.

Spot on 100%.

They only way things could get greener in some meaningful way is if every roof had solar panels that looked good, like shingles. And only if this didn’t put the owners in debt for installing it.

But don’t hold your breath. Government will send hundreds of billions overseas helping 3rd world dumps before it spends a penny on us.
Also don’t forget other mega polluters like china and India. USA going fully green wouldn’t change a damn thing in this world.
