Hello I am looking now for maybe travel to upstate NY to move there. But only to live in italian community there. I'm originally from italy and have now several years living here. I do not want to leave because is good living here in Brooklyn and also Queen. But my experience living in NY city have not been any good with racism from white people against me. I believe honestly that I start better life in the upstate. Upstate is beautiful and very big area.

Is good see my neihbors tell me that the people in the upstate have better attitude and friendly for others. Maybe who knows? I read about syracuse that maybe house italian community. Any good news from there as recommendation? If no please send your recommendation.

I never travel to area of upstate. I know its very big area but not many buildings like NYC but just houses. Before I move there maybe I try it to see what life is like there and hope to see italian community to welcome me. I think maybe it will be important step for me for my stress. If any you can please recommend italian areas you favor to live. Remember I dont want to go on like trip to forest or lake. I like recommendation only to italian area to live and with jobs and in future to raise good family. Because it is my plan.

Although I do not reside upstate, I understand Watkins Glen has a good amount of Italian American residents. The town actually hosts an "Italian Festival". Below is the Facebook page for same.

What are you looking for in a community? A couple of places come to mind, though they may not be as exclusively Italian as they used to be, but the Little Italies of Endicott(a bigger/company town village west of Binghamton, whose Little Italy is on the North Side/End of the village: Little Italy Endicott - Now that's Italian! ) and Rome, which is centered around East Dominick Street on the city’s East Side. It is about 15-20 minutes west of Utica, another city known for its Italian population, which has historically been centered on the East Side of that city. Utica has a current history of people of Italian descent in government(the mayor, most of the city council, etc.).

A few other communities that also come to mind are Lyncourt(a small place in the town of Salina north of Syracuse), Solvay(a company town village west of Syracuse known for its Tyrolean/Italian population) and Frankfort(a small town east of Utica). All have some of the highest percentages of people of Italian descent.

Other places that come to mind is Auburn’s West Side on both sides of the Route 5/20 arterial road; Cartland around St. Anthony’s of Padua church, parts of the North Side(and still the West Side to a lesser degree) of Buffalo, western Gates(a western suburb of Rochester), North Syracuse(a village north of Syracuse with quite a few Italian restaurants/bakeries), the Breen Street area of Watertown, the South Side of Amsterdam, Seneca Falls, Rotterdam west of Schenectady(due to some moving out from the Mont Pleasant neighborhood of Schenectady, which also has a Little Italy business district off of Union Street), parts of the North Side of Syracuse(still has businesses in the inner portion closer to Downtown, but many still in the city live in outer neighborhoods closer to Lyncourt like Court-Woodlawn north of Grant Boulevard or even around Sedgwick) or even the Eastwood neighborhood, parts of Troy south of it’s Downtown(which was/is marketed as its Little Italy: https://m.facebook.com/113776213346664/ ), East Rochester(a village east of the city), parts of Greece and Irondequoit (suburbs of Rochester), some small communities around Mount Morris in Livingston County, the Pine Street area of Niagara Falls(still marketed as its Little Italy, though more mixed with north of the street still having a good sized Italian presence), Canastota in between Syracuse & Utica and more.

Oh wow you supply very much good information that I need. Very helpful for me and my future! lol

Do you know I went before in the last year to east side of manhattan as you suggest in east dominic street. But I dont see any italian there and everybody there all speak english. But I will go to syracuse (only to visit) to see for the area for myself. You suggestions for the area is very good like you say has good population of many italians and the culture. To tell truth I need to eat italian food because american food not healthy and taste very bad for me and for many italian compatriots coming here for the first time to USA.

Yes yes someone told me about buffalo part. Before I go there i will do research in the area. Then i will plan a trip to see myself if its good for me or no. Any more suggestion please tell me

Is it on par with any place Upstate? I ask, because many Upstate NY metro areas have some of the highest percentages of people of Italian descent in the country.
