lol growth in the upstate LOL

You don't know growth until you've been in a hot southern or western city in the past 5 years. Rochester is crowing about a new apartment building, Costco, and downtown supermarket for 2014. Yeah, that's not growth.

Citygate? Ha! Charleston metro has like 10 of those in development.

NY growth is pretty much in NYC. And even then it's more like just shifting people and money around.

Just because the population increases, doesn't mean a city is any more thriving, especially if its only a few thousand for the metro. Isn't Rochester's homeless rate insanely high? Is the city just bussing in homeless people to pad the numbers?

The Upstate.....That's in SC.

As for up here, I don't know about the homeless situation, but it is a matter of old and new. Augusta when I was there was growing and it had just consolidated the city of Augusta, which had been losing people for decades, with Richmond County. I believe that it was one of the fastest growing areas in the South at one time, but even it had its issues with underdevelopment/abandonment of certain parts of the area even with the new development. So, even fast growth areas will have its bright and not so bright spots. I still enjoyed my time there though.
