Metairie residents do not need NOLA residents to survive. They may need NOLA jobs, but not the NOLA residents.

And NOLA needs the Metairie resident's money.

NOLA police force should set up in the durg crime riden parts of town and get rid of most of that mess. Just like the Phonix sherriff does
Well the problem is that a large chunk (basically the majority) of NOLA's population and elected officials are the crowd who wants to enable crime/defund police/etc. That's the difference in San Antonio.

Parishes are considered subdivisions of the State. Therefore, any changes in parish boundaries would have to go through the State Legislature in Baton Rouge. I think Metairie would consider incorporation as its own city first over being annexed into Orleans Parish.

If the two would merge NOLA pop would be over 500K and would attract not only gov but private investor. I just can't believe that a city like NOLA with all the natural resources around it is not one of the most powerful cities in the South or the USA.

More like 600k

I think Metarie would have to agree to that, and this is not likely to happen..

Has there ever been a movement in Metairie to incorporate?

With the exception of 4 places in Nevada and Arlington, VA, Metairie is the largest census designated place in the U.S.

Yes, it needs to happen. New Orleans needs to stop being lazy and living off its past and get on the train of going after tech and other business . Consult with cities managers from Holland on how to build vibrant cities that are below sea level. The The city cannot prosper if it only depends on tourism. New Orleans need to expand its port and become the dominant one in the region for Central and South American along with Southern Europe. The National Guard needs to take over a portion of the city until its policing gets back on its feet and enforce not loitering on street corners.

You people with the National Guard instead of just making life better. Police never help.
