Hey everyone. Wife and I will be coming to NOLA this year for the Swift concert at the Superdome. While the concert is one thing, we're more excited to see the city. We haven't been to Nola since July of 2005, so I know things are much different now. We are in our mid 30s.

First, we are staying at the Henry Howard hotel. We're treating this weekend as our anniversary trip this year, so we wanted a nicer, boutique type hotel.

Is this area generally safe? I know we'll be out late after the concert, but with that many people in the area, how bad is it really? We don't plan to be out late with tons of jewelry or anything on, but general safety for this area.

How is Bourbon Street nowadays? We have a car and would probably rather drive than walk very long distances to sightsee.

Any restaurants in the area you recommend?

Thanks for the info!

NOLA has a high crime rate. You need to be careful in almost any area of the city. This hotel is in a convenient area, but crime is still a possibility. Bourbon St. is still Bourbon St. with bars, loads of tourists, etc. It's hard to recommend a restaurant, not knowing your preferences and price range. We love the Gumbo Shop in the Quarter; prices are reasonable and food is good. Peche and Commander's Palace are excellent. It's hard to go wrong with food in NOLA.

Get tickets for the pelicans. Went to the game last night what a great venue. Pelicans shot 25 3 pointer's really great game fun team to watch. They are a talented young team with great coaching.
