Blur covered "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart, and did a pretty damned good job of it. I had this on a promo CD I found in a used bin in the late 90's; Blur recorded hundreds of B-sides, so each of their singles shipped with an extra six or so songs.

Franz Ferdinand did a cover of "Womanizer" by Britney Spears. It's amazing how when even the most trite pop song is performed by a group of real musicians, it can instantly and miraculously turn "good."
