I was told the Outlaws "don't do that stuff"

It's my understanding that "outlaw" clubs do a lot of charity work, but it's really just a publicity stunt, optics to mask their criminal activities. Some people drink the kool-aid, some don't.

BMW R1100, heck, Al Capone opened food pantries for unemployed men during his time as leader of murder, extortion, bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution.

That's absolutely right! The HA and the mob weren't the first, and won't be the last to buff up their image while being outlaws and gangsters.

BMW R1100, good morning,

P.S. Did you know there was a sort of alliance (I don't know if it's current, however), between the Chicago faction of the Mob, with the Chicago Outlaws?

It was sometimes referred to as O and O (named for the Chicago OUTFIT, and the Chicago OUTLAWS).

No, I wasn't aware of that, but it doesn't surprise me at all. Any smart operator would join up with any other operator who could benefit the bottom line.

BMW R1100, given the Outlaw South Side Clubhouse on W. 25th Street in the South Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, if you go due west you will cross from the city limits into the suburb of Cicero (which USED to be Al Capone's headquarter city after he moved it out of Chicago). Cicero, and also Berwyn remained (s) a Chicago Outfit territory.

I would say after the death of Anthony Accardo as the ultimate Don, the Outfit just did not have the same power in the city. Plus, many top Bosses went to jail or died, politics changed, different criminal groups became stronger, etc.

And the Outfit did some work with the Outlaws... Nowadays, I would guess the power of the Outfit is even less. So maybe they still do business with the Outlaws OR they try to avoid them to keep the heat off of what they have left, in terms of "power."

Nobody is claiming all MC clubs are criminals.
The outlaw types where I live derisively call those other type of clubs "Helmet" Clubs or "99%ers".
