I’m planning to escape Calif in the near future before they build a wall ala Berlin. I realize from some research that Lexington has voted blue in the last several elections. Just how blue is it? Is it a situation of folks just having different views on politics or is it so extreme like CA that conservatives have to sleep with a gun under their pillow and own 4 attack dogs just to take out the garbage?

Kentucky is not liberal at all. Lexington leans blue but only leans that way. Lexington is considered very safe for a city.

I've done business with people from Kentucky and they tend to be left-leaning.

Can't speak for the poor there.

By California standards it's no comparison.

Lexington, is a city and a significant college town at that so it's going to immediately be tilting leftward by those virtues.

However the "blue" of Kentucky is not the same as the blue of California.

This ^^ is spot-on.

Kentucky is a super conservative state, and Lexington is more "blue" by comparison to KY as a whole. But once you venture into the suburbs and beyond, it's bible thumping land.

I was going to say something similar. Inside the larger cities, you'll find that the blue outnumber the red, but as soon as you get to the 'burbs, or the "swankier" parts of the cities, you'll find that the red outnumber the blue.

Oh, and Kentucky blue is not at all like California blue.

Democrats have a 3% edge on party registrations in Lexington -Fayette County.

Congressional seat over last 45 years has been held by Republicans twice as much. Over last 30 years, basically even. Republican since 2012 and by almost 2 to 1 in 2022.

National, state and local politics are pretty separate things.

I suspect "Kentucky Blue" isn't that far off from Orange County Red.

Lexington and Ky are blue. The state of Kentucky is very red.
