Well let's hope what ever the do for the homeless situation is a permanent fix and also doesn't just place the homeless in other areas of downtown like center City Park!

A property long considered one of downtown Greensboro’s prime sites for redevelopment appears poised for a mix of office, multifamily and restaurant space under an agreement signed between the property owners and a boutique development firm from Wilmington.
GCMC Properties, led by Greensboro’s Paige and Will DuBose, said Wednesday that they have entered into a development agreement with Trask Land Co. Inc. of Wilmington for a mixed-use project on the former Gate City Motors site.
Specifics for the project are still to be worked out, with the development team not offering any estimates of investment in their announcement. They said plans “are beginning to take shape but are in the very early stages,” but offered that they anticipate that site design will include office, multifamily and restaurant uses.

Hopefully something can get done at this site.

Emmy award winning production company is moving its headquarters from Los Angeles and Nashville to the former Triad Stage building in downtown Greensboro.

“The company has taken space in the former Triad Stage building in downtown Greensboro and is finalizing construction for its offices, state-of-the-art editing suites and a high-end screening room for clients and artists. The company has also opened its new 6,000-square-foot logistics hubs just minutes away from its downtown headquarters,” the release states"

7 Cinematics produces things like concert films, live-music broadcasts and livestreams sent around the world. They have worked with artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone
John Legend, Dead & Company and Kiss.

The company says the move will allow it to centralize operations and maintain its nearby warehouse/logistics hub filled with production equipment.

The building will serve as a music venue as well which will bring in major music artists like the names mentioned above.

WOW!!! That's a amazing score for Greensboro! Could be the start of a whole new job sector for Greensboro!!! I am surprised this is coming to Greensboro and not Wilmington since , Wilmington had past production companies there . Also surprised Winston didn't get this with the school of the arts being there. Wonder if they even considered those areas are if Greensboro was solely on their radar! Anyway this is great news for Greensboro and the downtown! This really could jump start a lot of projects downtown and kick up things in high gear!

Definitely wasn't just a random pick. The owner has roots in Greensboro which could explain a lot. But still to leave LA and Nashville for Greensboro. There is certainly potential for a cluster in this sector for Greensboro though. This is a pretty big league production company. The Tanger Center is already luring big artists downtown and now this new venue where they will not only perform but even record. Its like a hybrid of the music industry and Hollywood. But what makes this venue unique is that there will be big artists performing in a more intimate setting as oppose to a large venue like the coliseum or the Tanger Center.

Sounds like the owners are originally from GSO. That’s the probable cause of the move….Nice to see people coming back to invest in their hometowns
