Hello out there

I would like to relocate to Fort Wayne. I am about to retire and am looking for a part-time job. I am an admin by trade and have great organizational skills and computer savvy. Currently working as a church office manager. What are the current prices for senior independent living or very nice quiet apartments?

I might be able to rent a house if I am working. How is the current economy in FW? I know there is a state income tax. What does a 1 to 2 bedroom place go for? Any advice on job search boards specific to FW?
I really hate Linked-in and other large sites as they only seem to send Spam and no real jobs. Thank you to anyone who can help.

I'm there on business quite a bit, and will answer the best I can.

FW has a lot of white collar work. Right now there's a bit of a labor shortage in certain fields. The economy is strong and growing, the city proper is generally safe and easy to navigate. I've spent time there in inner city areas, as well as suburban type places, there plenty of amenities throughout.

1-2 BR apartments in decent and nice areas could range from $700-$1200.

FW's real estate market is strong still, although there are good deals to be had there. Lot of rehabs, I invested in two rental properties there in recent years due to how stable and affordable FW is.

If it's a senior living type area you'd prefer, north of Coliseum Blvd, and west out Illinois Road are where you'd find some nice, affordable complexes. A friend lived off of Illinois Road in a complex with a lot of seniors 4-5 years ago, I believe it was Hunt Club Apartments.

Yes, I will definitely check that out. I would prefer senior living since most of the time it is quiet.

I have finally planned my trip and will heading to Fort Wayne the week of September 1, 2023. Looking for part-time work and a nice quiet place to live. Many thanks to Howard Roarke for all of his tips. If there is anyone out there who has any tips or advice please let me know.
