Hi. I grew up in Alaska most of my life from like 3 years until I was 17 years old. I had lots of friends from many different backgrounds including whites, Filipino, black, half Egyptians half Greeks and my best friend in high school was part native American. But we were all cool with each other and accepted each other it didn't really matter where you were from. I miss like the laid back vibe live and let live attitude and vibe of the place. Very individualistic minded people and place. I remember going to once in a while trips to Anchorage, and Anchorage was seen more like the cooler much bigger city in Alaska. I used to so excited to visit Anchorage as a kid. It's was a cool childhood a cool environment to grow up in and experience. I have family that still live there to this day. Anyway just having a nostalgia moment loving the memories and carefree childhood of my younger days. Thanks for reading.

I've gotten too used to the warm weather in Ky. And I am settled here. But I feel I will always be Alaskan at heart. I grew up there. Through facebook friends, I've learned that fairbanks has changed crime has gotten worse. But I will still visit time to time. Still have fond memories of biking in the summer, snow machining with friends in the winter and walking for hours walking from my first job to my house during the summer. Good memories.

Compared to when? I think the perception of the crime rate is higher because there's more awareness now, but Fairbanks has always been pretty spicy.

You are right. Crime in recent years and now remains the same, except that nowadays we have a lot more people living in Fairbanks. Also, nowadays the news travels faster (social media is one of the worst spreading gossip and news). Someone pops a pimple somewhere, and a bunch of his or her friends know about it within a few minutes, thanks to social media
