I'm talking in terms of nightlife. Someone told me this recently, can any Edmontonians chime in on this? Thanks.

I'm too old to worry about nightlife but as a former resident of Edmonton (66 years) I can say that calgary has a larger % of U.S. citizens and I'd bet money that calgary is the fun place. When you need work to pay for the nightlife, go to Edmonton. Alberta has it all !

I agree. Calgary is flashier and cosmopolitan. It's what I call a white-collar city whereas Edmonton is a blue collar town that is redeemed as an excellent destination for arts and theater, science, world sports venue, the best names in the music biz, and festivals year round.

Edmonton has a lame joke for a rodeo and fair. Calgary puts us to shame there. And if you are in Calgary for the Stampede it is exciting and all consuming. A terrific tourist draw. Big long party, literally. Who doesn't like rodeo? Yee haw.
