The bottom floor is like 75 percent completed. Judging from what I saw Saturday,I'll be shocked if Aldi doesn't get that spot. It makes a lot more sense from square footage standpoint.

I don't know that Aldi has many in-line locations like this. They could do a Winn-Dixie (owned by Aldi), but I would think Publix/Sprouts/Earth Fare type

Publix's smallest prototype is 28,000 sqft. Greenville, SC has one as part of a high-rise downtown. This makes the most sense to me, but no one at Publix who I have talked to seems to know anything about a location as part of this project. However, I've heard from numerous people that Publix can be "very particular" about site design and leasing terms, and this can make negotiations last awhile.

With the pending Aldi acquisition, I don't think either Aldi or Winn Dixie are in or will be in expansion mode for a few years.

Columbus won't get a Trader Joe's without a Whole Foods first.

Earth Fare is allegedly struggling, so I don't see them expanding.

Maybe Piggly Wiggly, but they have a store right across the river.

And I don't see a specialty store like Sprouts or a new entry into the market such as Kroger building an expensive store downtown without establishing themselves with a far less expensive investment in the suburbs first.

My guess is negotiations are ongoing. And if they fall through, I'd expect a large convenience store (i.e. Zelmo's without gas).

Synovus Corporate Headquarters has announced their relocation into a 125,000-square-feet Class A office building in Riverfront Place. The new office space at Riverfront Place will combine the preservation elements of historic buildings but with a focus on the future. The new offices will include a flexible floorplan with configurations on a 25,000 square-feet, unbeatable views of the river, a full fitness center, a large outdoor terrace on the 4th floor, a lobby café, and a ground floor grocer. The 22-mile-long Columbus Riverwalk and Mathews D. Swift Park are just steps away from the building, offering employees a scenic place to eat lunch or unwind after work. Does this appeal your businesses needs? There is 50,000 square-feet still remaining in this unique workspace- inquire today while it’s still available.

Sounds like it's 90% leased with only 50k of office space left.

My very first original thought. It has the population density around it.

Most Definitely
I can say that Athens is a key player in Georgia
Likely to end up looking like Asheville

Highside Market just had it's official grand opening last week. They are still doing construction on some incoming business parcels. But many are open already

Here's a recent video of Highside Market more than a month ago before it's official opening this past week.
