“Charleston, South Carolina
“Charleston city for education
“This charming southern town has both history and culture thanks to its deep roots as a port town. Founded in 1670, the cobblestone streets and palm tree-lined promenade make this town a hot spot for tourism. Due to the number of museums and access to institutions of higher education, Charleston ranked highly on our list. The Magnet High School set high academic expectations making it the top ranked school in South Carolina.”

Charleston makes it to a lot of "Best Of" lists but other than the Academic Magnet High School specifically, this is the first time I've seen it on a best of list for education. There has been a lot of money moving to Charleston in the past couple of decades and a lot of property tax money has been going to improving the schools so I guess it makes sense.
U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of top Charleston-area high schools:
Academic Magnet #8 national rank out of “nearly 25,000”
Charleston School of the Arts #142
Wando #886

James Island Charter #2,350
Charleston Charter School for Math and Science #2,593
