Excellent!

Also has anyone heard any more about the general widening of I-526 to 6 lanes total?

Would be interesting for Mt. Pleasant to create it's own sports complex the only real issue against it is space so they would have to build it out towards Awendaw i'd guess, also maybe build it on an island simply because it would look awesome. Wouldn't want to put it right on the coast though so maybe along the Wando River on say Cat Island. Granted a good chunk of the island is considered wetlands by basing it off of the dry northern part of the island it could expand and create land and buildings on the southern part of the island.

Not necessarily about construction but does anyone know why Palmetto Islands County park hasn't spread over to the large island near it? The land is well above sea level so i can't thing of many reasons why they shouldn't expand to it.

Which one?

The big one to the left is already connected, although last year it was closed due to work on the walking deck. The one to the northeast, though, looks like it would require a higher loft bridge to cross the deeper channel and thus more money. Or it could protected land (bird sanctuary) or be private property.

The bigger one to the northeast, the island is well above sea level... at least as far above has the mainland part of the park, it's also large enough to fit some nice things... such as a Zoo! At least it looks like it could be large enough for one....

On to other areas of the metro

Berkeley county may end the "impact fee" of new construction if the 1% sales tax is extended
Berkeley County impact fee hasn't brought in funds expected - Post and Courier
The impact fee has brought in just 10 Million dollars since 2006 when it was instated while the 1% sales tax has brought in over 70 Million dollars, if the fee is repealed it will likely mean quite a bit more growth for Berkeley county and will likely spur even more growth in the Nexton area.

Another thing for the metro area and really the state in general

Great Recession shows itself in South Carolina property reassessmentsGreat Recession shows itself in South Carolina property reassessments, with unexpected results - Post and Courier

The gist of it seems to be that property values may not go up as much as tax on said property will due to the recession.

Hadn't realized this before but it looks like there are big plans for the road systems around the Airport
Charleston County has plans, but not the money, for $277 million in Boeing-related roads - Post and Courier

Another thing about the airport is that direct flights to DC are starting on June 19th
