Are you sure? Street junkies by definition are committing crimes for cash to pay for their habit. What would be their incentive to commit a hate crime?

i. don't. care.

Crime is bad no matter what kind it is, and everyone is on the receiving end of that these days.

If you read about a lot of the attacks on Asians during Covid a lot were by mentally disturbed homeless people. Most weren’t perpetuated by patent attorneys making 400k/yr with a spouse and three kids

Ok, and?
The link to the OAG report is contained in the first sentence of the Yahoo article you linked to, so take it up with Andrew J. Campa, the author. Or take it up with Bob Bonta since it was his words being reported on, words which don't paint an accurate picture nor match the 20% claim. It's unfortunate that you read non-existent tone into my preface that people should fact check news reports sometimes. It's really weird you're so inspired to write multi-paragraph replies about how my words affected you but hey, what can you do amirite?

In a normal world (definitely not the city data forums), a person might look at the corrected data and think "wow, that's good news; hate crimes are staying relatively steady". Here at CD, the truth ruined the controversy which in turn ruined the conversation. Tragic!

Eric McBurney of the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office says his client is mentally ill, not hateful.

So we're counting 4 attacks by mentally ill homeless people within the two years between 2021 and 2023. Not "a lot," and not necessarily fitting the definition of a hate crime.

Unnecessary and irrelevant remark. Your point?

So 38% of homeless in CA are alcoholics and 26% are addicted to drugs. Most CA mayors admit for single people (not families that typically spend their nights in shelters and aren’t generally the ones you see on the streets) addiction is by far the number one cause. These addiction numbers are 15-20x than for the general population.

A minority of homeless do seem to perpetuate many of these random attacks. The fact that a lot of of them are addicted and/or mentally ill and can basically do what they want in cities like SF and LA makes the situation worse. I knew someone that worked at CVS in SF that had a homeless man try to stab him with bloody used syringes when he asked him to stop stealing and the police refused to even show up.

As for the lawyer comment, people that are well adjusted to society aren’t typically beating blacks or Asians and screaming nonsense. You’ll find more of these random violence outbursts among the mentally ill homeless population of course.

So black guys attacking old Asian women in Oakland are part of the "right"?

anytime a local government supports people living on the street crime of all varieties will spike.

Take it to one of those homeless threads then. It's doubtful that mentally ill homeless people are responsible for even a small percent--much less 20%--increase in hate crimes for the year of 2022.
