Paris Air Show: Birmingham to present Airbus supplier conference this fall | AL.com

One big step closer I think. Let's build some airplane parts.

Quote:

Birmingham will be the site of an airline aviation industry conference this fall, Mayor William Bell announced from the Paris Air Show today. Bell told AL.com that the city was selected for a conference of Airbus suppliers. The conference represents Birmingham's first tangible accomplishment from attending the international air show.
Bell said the conference will bring hundreds of manufacturers and suppliers from around the world to Birmingham. The city will partner with the Birmingham Business Alliance to present the conference.

Brookwood will be getting some upgrades. Looks like they will make the inside look as good as the outside. And maybe in the near future, Belk can make their location here the second flagship hopefully after the Summit kicks them out in favor of Nordstrom's.

Cypress Equities plans $20 million renovation of Brookwood Village - Birmingham Business Journal

Quote:
Dallas, Texas-based Cypress Equities has announced plans for a $20 million renovation of Homewood's Brookwood Village.
The owner did not go into details about future tenants in the building but detailed a four-phase plan that will be complete by June of next year.

“Our fresh slant on the redesign of Brookwood Village is to convert it to a boutique shopping and entertainment destination,” stated Todd Minnis, chief investment officer for Cypress Equities. “We aim to create a hospitality-flavored experience with all the comforts of home.”

Hoping this brings some new jobs to fruition. Also hoping this will be a stepping stone to landing an international flight.

Iron City Lofts move-ins have been delayed until January 2016 (from September 2015) but that isn't really a big surprise. Looks like Liv Parkside will be the next new city center apartments to market... I am guessing sometime in September or October with the first phase of 20 Midtown right after that. Iron City lofts will be online in January, and hopefully Venue at the Ballpark will be completed before the beginning of next baseball season.

Also, not sure if this has been posted yet, but the Negro League Museum is set to open in just a couple of weeks:

We should find out over the next couple of months if Aston Martin is coming to central Alabama or more specifically the Birmingham area.

Alabama faces competition for Aston Martin plant - Birmingham Business Journal

Quote:
Aston Martin has announced it will reveal the location of its new plant that will build the DBX crossover in the third quarter of this year, according to a report from Automotive News.
Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said in May that Alabama was the "obvious choice" for its new facility, due to its proximity to Mercedes-Benz U.S. International.

The talk of Chipotle had me hankering for a burrito so I swung by the one in front of RG. Looks like our 2nd Whole Foods is finally going to get off the ground as they have erected barricades in front of it in the parking lot.

Not meaning to clutter, but who was it on here a few months ago who was arguing with people if the Pizitz project was legit and would ever get off the ground?

Just strolled by there and they've got a 30-man grew trenching out for pipe work.

That person or persons have most likely retreated and moved their goalposts on to something else that doesn't meet their personal itinerary or lofty levels of excellence.

It was probably a completely reasonable thing to wonder at the time. You do realize the Pizitz building has been bought and sold a couple of times with a couple of different plans that haven't come to fruition over the last 5 years, right? It is nice to see it finally moving forward... and the Thomas Jefferson Tower as well after Leer did nothing with it. Not sure what the holdup is with the Harbert apartment tower on Highland. Hopefully it gets started soon.

You are absolutely wrong.

Jeffrey Bayer has owned the Property for ten years and rode out the economic rollercoaster for the past eight years which is why he is the best at what he does. Location and timing. The balance of the elements were shifted according to market trends, but he never lost focus or chose to sell.

For those who know Bayer Properties well, I can respond to your first sentence; no, it was not reasonable to doubt that this day would come. And it has.
