Another great TT (Tourist Trophy) race was held last weekend, the NW200. Here's a link to that and also an interesting article on the stresses a riders heart is under during the race.

I love watching the onboard videos. Monaco GP seems like an amateur go kart race in comparison. I still prefer F1, though.

I watched the side cars last year and enjoyed the races. Think it is delayed here and shown later has it occurs when several other important races are live broad cast here on that weekend.

It's so incredibly dangerous the FIM quit sanctioning it years ago. It's more or less "self sanctioned."

The fatality list shows this year's Japanese rider: List of Snaefell Mountain Course fatal accidents - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have never gone, but my old motorcycle racing buddy (from years ago) has gone as a spectator.

yikes - I have always enjoyed watching motorcycles race (although I wouldn't say I follow it or see it more than 1x-2x per year) ..... I knew of this race, saw that it was going to be on velocity (and their previews look incredible) and knew it had a reputation for being very dangerous ....... didn't have a clue it was that deadly though

thanks for the info - i'll be away from a TV all weekend so I will probably only get to watch a little in the way of highlights ..... here's hoping for a safe ride and race though

Still the deadliest race in the world.

Fatalities since the original posting:

2014 – 5
2015 – 3
2016 – 4
2017 – 3

Interesting video from the New York Times (who woulda thought) about an Irishman who barely survived and his love of and commitment to the race:

A scary moment:

The most dangerous motor race in the world update. 2 people died in 2018. Total racer deaths (doesn't include spectators and officials) is now 257.

A race such as this, a 37+ mile course on ordinary roads through towns and countryside, sometimes approaching and even exceeding 200mph, could only be held in a place like the Isle of Man which is self-governing.

Here are some highlights of the 2018 race. You can probably guess who the unfortunate 2 were:
