An interesting and somewhat awkward discussion at my new job today (picking fruit).

The boss was giving the health and safety routine, and mentioned that anyone with covid would have to stay away for 14 days - this attracted a few chortles, and the comment "that people without sick pay don't get sick... they're just hungover".

I suspect no one at work that contracts covid, will be telling anyone - who wants 14 days without pay?

As long as you can cope with everyone asking what you think of New Zealand you'll be fine

Australia well known for posing the same question. At times when feet barely touched the tarmac. I guess people seek a degree of reassurance with regards to the place they live?

I guess with a country like New Zealand, with a huge number of emigrants, high cost of living and so on, doubt remains in the mind of many and reassurance sought?

Used to be the curiosity of a child for me, and later just a general fascination of different places and peoples, and how this country fitted into this.

Somehow this become the hallmark of a racist white nationalist, and those who had once been happy to give their opinion on NZ, started to become highly offended and see themselves as victims.
