I have found another Chinese herbal medicine for aplastic anemia called "Fu Fang Ejiao Jiang". I was able to order it from a seller in California. I don't know how long to use it, though. When do you give up on a Chinese herb? I know that it can take several months for TCM to work. My mother's been on it for just 7 days. She takes 3 vials a day, as is instructed on the box. We shall see! At this point, we will try just about anything. She can do Campath in a few months if things don't improve. I just don't like the harshness of those medicines. It's an immunosuppressant used for a variety of autoimmune diseases (used with one type of leukemia, too, I believe.). She will not do ATG + cyclosporine again, as was initially advised if first round didn't work.
I hope you are all doing very well. Please good take care.

Here is some more info that might help.
This is a pdf study of Chinese medicine by the Australian govt.
You have no idea how much I appreciate you and all the information links you've posted. You are truly amazing.
For your information, we noticed that when my mother was taking sappan wood, her blood held for almost 25 days, which is unprecedented. She is back on it. Hopefully, it will help her blood hold again. Nothing - and I mean nothing - has ever made her platelets hold or rise. It is the most stubborn of the three lines that her aplastic anemia affects.
I just can't get in contact with anyone about TSY-1. No one answers my emails.
I think I am going to have to take a trip to Taiwan LOL. Not sure I can go to China now.
The results are quite promising with this herb.
People have cured themselves of aplastic anemia with supplements. I have read several accounts online. My mother is not getting any better, although she is no worse. I just want her off blood transfusions, even if the hemoglobin doesn't go to normal (9-10 would be fine). I have a lot of reservations about her doing another treatment with strong immunosuppressants, considering the response rate is maybe 40-60% (depends on different factors).
It is interesting how aplastic anemia is treated differently in the Far East in many cases.
They have successfully used androgens over the years to cure it, but I never heard of anabolic steroids ever being used here in the US to treat or cure severe aplastic anemia.
My mother is female, too, so I don't know how much anabolic steroids they give women with aplastic anemia in China, etc. so you don't develop male sex characteristics. I understand that anabolic steroids are hormones -- not herbs. Just grasping at straws ehre.
The studies from the 70's and 80's and 90's all show that it is indeed a reliable treatment for severe aplastic anemia. particularly when combined with traditional Chinese herbs like Ji Xue Teng.
What is a natural supplement that is most like an anabolic steroid that is safe for older women? Curious.
I have some more research for you. I used the Chinese characters for aplastic anemia (再生不良性贫血 ) in a Google search. I got this through Google translate since I cannot read Chinese.
Here are some of the links that I eventually found. I am viewing these links in English with the translate feature of the Google Chrome browser.
"What to eat for anemia with regenerative disorders
: 1. Foods suitable for eating:
1. Foods rich in iron, such as: liver, waist, kidney, red lean meat, blood of fish and poultry, custard, hard fruit, dried fruit (grape Ten, dried apricots, dried dates), mushrooms, fungus, mushrooms, kelp and soy green leafy vegetables. Foods with high absorption and utilization of iron include lean meat, fish and poultry, blood, internal organs, and heme iron. ;
2. High protein diet to promote iron absorption and synthesis of hemoglobin;
3. Foods high in vitamin c reduce ferric iron to easily absorbed ferrous iron;"

Tongkat Ali is one of the steroid like supplements that is promoted for increased testosterone and muscle building. I do not know if it is safe for older women. The market for this supplement is men aged 30-70.
I did not find any articles about LJ100 and aplastic anemia. I recommend doing a lot more research and consulting with your mother's doctors before putting her on this type of herb.
Lostempireherbs.com also specializes in these types of herbal supplements.
Qigong may also help. There is a story in the book Born a Healer by Chunyi Lin about a person with aplastic anemia who was helped with Spring Forest Qigong.
Again, forever grateful for your help. I will never forget your help.
The info above is so valuable. I will have to take the time to go through it all.
My mother is still no better, except her red blood cells are a bit bigger (MCV improved a lot).
I was talking about anabolic steroids, simply because there are studies to show that Danazol has proven to be effective in treating people with severe aplastic anemia. Way back before ATG and cyclosporine, anabolic steroids is what was used to knock the disease out of the person. However, it wasn't always effective in everyone. The studies I've read about Danazol say that anabolic steroids are more effective in treating women with severe aplastic anemia than men. We're getting desperate.
What a mysterious disease! It has me about crazy.
Please take good care.
