Raymond Burr Vineyards

The Raymond Burr Vineyards in Sonoma County are owned by actors Raymond Burr and his friend Robert Benevides. The two met while filming the Perry Mason television program in the 1950's. The two purchased the winery and while Burr did not want the winery named after him, Benevides decided it was a great memorial and testament to the man and the career of the man. The 1992 Raymond Burr Cabernet Sauvignon is described as " big, full of gusto, complex and jubilantly alive." Other wines from the collection include Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. The vineyard is also home to an orchid farm, another shared hobby of Burr and Benevides. The two were responsible for the hybridization of 2,000 orchid varietals. Those who are fans of the Burr wines can become wine club members. Club members receive anywhere from two to twelve bottles of wine shipped to their home throughout the year, as well as a discount on all of their in-person and mail order wine purchases. The tasting room at the winery is open daily from 11 am until 5 pm and guests can samples the wines, make wine purchases and enjoy the scenic vistas and terrain of the winery.
