A tragic ending that should never have happened.

It happens often in Wyoming but usually not to residents.

I've volunteered and have spent a lot of time in these situations and have a very good understanding.

I've known the husband for many years but not as a friendship. It's very odd as he's been a hunter, and has spent some time outdoors although id not consider him hardcore outdoorsman. I know for a fact he's worked outside in very harsh conditions as I and many others did also for many years so odd that this happened. It was nothing for many workers in Wyoming to spend 16-18 hours working in harsh conditions years ago although not so much now.

We didn't even hear any news of it for a good day/half. It should have been broadcast across the whole damn state that evening several hours after she'd gone missing.

Myself and other competent outdoorsman would have readily headed out that night regardless of the storm to look for her. Not to mention there are A LOT of other competent outdoorsmen/badasses in Wyoming that would have also gone without hesitation.

Time is always urgent in harsh elements. The statements from authorities asking that no individual efforts or searches were wanted is total bs. I definitely question some of the decisions made.

We lived/worked in Campbell county for many years prior to retiring and it has one of the harshest "feels" of anyplace I've ever been. The elements could get you there very easily?

There were a lot of dedicated individuals that should be commended for the time they spent in the field.

I have been seeing this story on Facebook for several days.

Each sheriff’s office in Wyoming is required to maintain a search and rescue division. I don’t know if you’d be able to volunteer to help, but I am pretty certain you would be notified immediately if you are able.

If you can’t be a SAR volunteer, maybe look and see if they have a Facebook page or something that you can follow to stay up to date.

That’s all I can think of at the moment.

Condolences to her family. I visited Gillette for my Moms funeral a few years ago. Hadn't been there since I was a kid in the early 80s and it has really changed since then.

That was terribly sad.

It's tempting to second guess their decisions. But in the end most of us know we've just gotten lucky because something like this could happen to us.

Definitely! But not luck.

I've lived on the edge and pushed everything life threw my way. The great Lord must have something big I need to be a part of. He's dang sure baled me out of alot of messes!

Still, there were a lot of mistakes made that shouldn't have.

The autopsy report was the first time it mentioned that they both were soaking wet.

I'm constantly getting after my family about going out in flipflops type ****!!
