This town sits at an elevation of 3757 ft. That is quite low, giving a nice mild climate, but the snowfall, while heavy, melts quickly, and a large amount of winter precipitation will be frequent cold rain spread out over 4-5 months.

It's a beautiful area. Years ago, we had many fun times camping along the Stanislaus River, in summer. We had good luck fishing between Strawberry & The Dardanelles. I explored a lot of the back roads with my Honda 90 dirt bike. I mounted it on the bumper of our 1978 20' American Clipper C motorhome, we traveled/ explored with for many years, mostly all over the Pacific Northwest/ PSW too. We have many wonderful happy memories...
