To put it into perspective, Calgary's average summer weather is almost identical to Los Angeles' average winter weather.

Calgary

I've been to Calgary in summer and the cool nights didn't bug me,
I really liked the warm sunny days with no humidity.
Worst thing about Calgary is it can be suddenly way below normal any time of year,
I remember a couple of days in early October that felt like winter with snow
and barely above freezing highs (about 2C).

I like Lethbridge, Alberta climate better than Calgary,
slightly milder winters and warmer longer summers, could be Canadian prairies best climate.

Medicine Hat is better.

The contrast between these two cities is especially apparent in tomorrow's forecast high: 14C (58F) in Calgary, and -7C (19F) in Winnipeg!

Winnipeg for me as it is only 150 miles north of my location. Calgary is a great city and love the variety and cooler summers there but the winter chinooks and warming would not sit well with me. Their snowcover is highly variable.

I think I'll go with Winnipeg. Calgary is just a freak climate, don't get fooled by the averages, because average doesn't exist in Calgary.

Come on, 22C high on 24 October 2013, -6C high on 28 October... -7C high in November and 10C the next day... 11C on 27 December and -13C high the next day...

And more: 19C on 2 April 2013, 4C on 3 April... 3C HIGH ON 30 APRIL??? 10C high on 2 June???

Calgary is definitely not my cup of tea.

Calgary is basically like a colder-winter, cooler-summer version of Denver. Being at the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains will do that.

The air pressure in Calgary is about 2 pounds lower than Winnipeg. Thus you will get a headache. It is like being in t a plane all the time. The air pressure you posted is the sea level air pressure and not the station air pressure. You will have trouble finding this air pressure but pilots need to know it. The station air pressure is the actual air pressure on your boady and not the adjusted air pressure for ? i don't know why the actual air pressure is so hard to find but it is. Check out Denver Colorado and it is worse than Calgary.

I had never travelled to Calgary before , I live in Winnipeg, until I was 60 years old in 2018 and I got a head ache from the altitude , which is about 3000 feet. Winnipeg is only 600 feet and is much more pleasant with fully oxygenated blood and no headaches. This low pressure can also cause joint pain. Lucky for me I only stayed 2 days and then got out of there back to lower ground. I just had to take my wife to the US consulate for a visa.
