The Super Nintendo had better sound and had a better color palette than the Sega Genesis overall. The Genesis had Phantasy Star IV, which was on par with some of the RPGs on the SNES, but that's all I really remember the system for as far as RPGs go. The Genesis had the Sonic franchise and blood in Mortal Kombat II, too, but the SNES had Final Fantasy III [VI] (greatest RPG of the 16-bit era and my favorite of all time) and a whole host of outstanding RPGs when Square and Enix were in their respective 16-bit primes. The SNES had original releases such as Donkey Kong Country and majorly successful spinoffs of Nintendo's IP in games such as Mario Kart and Super Mario RPG, among a ton of others.
I loved me some Tommy Lasorda's Baseball & World Championship Soccer..
