I'll start by saying the game isn't perfect. The camera in came play is my biggest gripe. The story isn't anything to write home about. The character models, graphics, and voice acting is superb. I'm loving the pacing so far. The inventory system is top notch as well. Certain items are need for the upkeep of your bike. Plenty of stealth is needed to avoid massive hordes of creepers. I enjoys killing those ****ers and wiping out their nest. Days Gone is a very fun game and think that reviews are harsh. Reviewers claim the game is repetitive, when most open world games are. AC Odyssey was critically acclaimed but was just as repetitive as any other open world game. Don't believe the hate, this game is pretty awesome!
Honest gamer question- purchase now at full price, or wait until significant price drop? would like a game to play this weekend, but I'm on the fence between days gone and Mortal Kombat, or maybe save a few bucks and get World War Z for my zombie fix?
FYI: I have really been playing a lot of sports game for the last few months, since putting down Red dead (which I really didn't like that much), but I'm a huge fan of sand-box style gaming

Thanks for the info
If you like San-box games I would pull the trigger on Days Gone.
Grid: B+
Control: A-
Unravel: B+
Unravel 2: B+
Last of Us 2: B-
Doom Eternal: A-
I'm trying to think of anything that keeps Doom Eternal from getting my 3rd A given, & I can't of anything, but something about the game feels a touch off to get a perfect A. Maybe the last 2-3 levels were too difficult, but you can change the difficulty down at any time, so it's not fair to knock it for that.
I hated Last of Us 2 but I realize the things I hated it for may not bother other people (mundane, repetitive, too long, having to play as another character for huge length of time.) The game had a lot of nice elements (graphics, parts of the story, unique elements with menus/combat etc) besides those faults to bring the score up.

God of War Ragnarok: A-
It's on another level compared to almost any other game. Played through it twice. First play through I was thinking an A. Second an A-. If I take a break & give it a year or 2, I bet I'd give it a definite A. Like other GOWs it has it all, great combat, graphics, story, music. Only knock is it gets a little long & world traversal gets confusing at times.
Spider-Man 2: A
I rarely give out an A, but this game is worthy. They managed to improve my only mild complaints with Spider-man. Playing as other characters was boring, & world traversal. An open world game has to have quick traversal & they added a wingsuit & a very quick fast travel.
Immortals of Aveum: B+
I could see it being a cult classic down the road. It has some rough elements that could be smoothed out with a sequel. Mostly that it took me until 2/3 into the game to learn basic strategies which the game doesn't tell you & I didn't figure out until watching youtube.

I literally just finished it. I'm between a B+ and A-. I think I still rate it an A- because of the storyline and other things you mentioned. I agree with it being too long, I think even longer than GTA V. I got to a point where I didn't bother with the side quests anymore.
