It might have a lot to do with the "hey, I can eat it" factor. Vegans are going to perhaps like it because hey, they can eat it, and a carnivore might not choose it to eat because he would rather have real meat.
I buy some of the gluten-free products because hey, I can eat it, but no one who could eat the real thing would ever choose to buy that stuff. It just isn't that good.
I can and do eat meat but if someone at a cookout has the Impossible burger, I will choose that every time.
Don't get me wrong, I like regular burgers. It just the quality of the burger meat has gone down hill.
If that wasn't enough for you, it goes bad faster then it used to.

Beyond Meat spicy sausage patties are excellent, can't tell the difference between it and the real thing. Also NO SOY which is the key component I check when it comes to added ingredients.
