The Cecil Hotel (now called Stay on Main) is one of LA’s most famous hotels, in part to its dark history. Home to murderers, maniacs, and ghosts, some say the Cecil is anything but your average hotel, they say it’s cursed.
For all those intrigued w/ this hotel, there will be a new TV show called Horror at the Cecil Hotel starting Oct 16th on the Investigation Discovery channel:
I drove by that hotel a few months ago. It's in a horrible part of downtown LA. Why That young Asian girl Elisa was staying there I'll never know.
I'll be watching that show for sure
Lam was an uninformed Canadian tourist. Then again, maybe not so uninformed.
"The Cecil Hotel has had its share of suicides and bizarre deaths, including the death of a missing tourist whose body was found in a water tank on the roof of the hotel last year."
Interesting video clip about a documentary being done about Lam's disappearance.
As he says, "The case defies conventional categorization. Is it a true crime mystery? A profile of mental illness? A paranormal investigation? Or all three… The Elisa Lam case transcends all labels and becomes a Rorschach test for the 21st-century mind - everyone who looks at it sees something different."
I wish Lam's case could be solved too. She was from out of the country (Canada) & figured she found a cheap hotel in L.A. How many of us do research on the history of a hotel before we travel there if we're out of the state or country? At most, we see what reviews it has regarding cleanliness and how nice the rooms look.
knowing all that you would think someone would tear it down right ? gosh that sounds so horrible all the stuff that has happened here eek !!! I would run from that place . Good thing it is in a bad part of town maybe that would keep a lot of people away .
I could be at that hotel in about an hour's drive from me (give or take probably 15 min depending on traffic). I never had a reason to go to anyplace in that entire area of L.A. in my life & don't plan to do so now.
If I was going to stay in an L.A. hotel, I'd choose the Bonaventure Hotel...for sentimental reasons. My parents took me there as a child to walk & lounge around and have a non-alcoholic drink.

There could probably not be two more different hotels than the Bonaventure and the Cecil Hotel, the latter of which is now called Stay on Main, and is a Los Angeles landmark. https://la.curbed.com/2017/3/2/14791...geles-landmark
