There was a murder there. A couple was assaulted and the woman died; the man survived. It was reported by nomads who had stayed there. For some reason, Google does not provide search results for it, but I remember when it happened. It was within the past 5 years.

I wouldn't stay there. It's not my style or my cup of tea and I don't care what anyone says, it is dangerous. Most people go to visit and gape but not stay. Nomad caravans go there in a large group and that would probably be ok (safe).

The only thing worth seeing is Salvation Mountain. It was built by a man who lived there who has passed on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvation_Mountain

Well, I found this video and it's actually pretty nice. Many people would think the people interviewed are nuts, but many people understand where some of them are coming from (not all). It's nice that the one man set up a small restaurant to help the people keep from dying of sunstroke in the summer (the approx. 200 who stay during summer). Some of the people have done and are doing some pretty amazing stuff. Check it out.

Slab City is one of my fav places on earth. But it’s not really a place you’d visit. It’s really meant for people who want to settle there and take on the unique lifestyle.

Went there upwards of 20-25 years ago, probably wouldn’t now cuz of internet notoriety.
