We haven't had our A/C serviced and need to find a good reputable company that we can trust to come do the yearly checks and do any service if required. Any recommendations on who to hire or who to stay away from?

We need to do the same thing. My parents use Tommys AC and have been very happy with them. They have theirs serviced 2 times per year. 941-625-5270. Another AC company that my customers have had good luck with is Sharkeys Air 941-625-2143.

Executive Heating and Cooling....or something like that. They installed a whole new Ruud system for me at what seemed like a good price ($3100). The owner that sold the job to me was a nice honest guy. The installer was not so great, nor the first repair tech they sent. After calling the owner he sent his top guy who was pretty good.

I trust the owner to make good on his word and that is about what you can ask of any contractor around here...they all have some sup-par low-wage workers, you take your chances with any company. Every company will send their lowest on the totem pole to do yearly maintenance, so good luck. My advice is watch them do the maintenance even if you have no idea what you are watching. It just makes them more honest.

I am in no way singling out only HVAC businesses in any comments made above. I have no faith in any contractors down here.

Oh you are so right HR. Finding honest hard workers here proves to be very difficult. That's why I want other's recommendations. I also ask my neighbors who they use and recommend.

I just hired Tommy's to replace a heat pump for me - I'll report back on my thoughts after they are completed.
