I always thought they were way overpriced.....they don't have anything that you can't get somewhere else for less IMO...

For a moment there I thought you were talking about the long-gone Whole Foods.

You can find quality items for less at a Dick's Sporting Goods or Walmart. Dollar General has an offshoot now called popshelf. It is aimed at more affluent customers who enjoy bargain hunting. Being in these inflationary times, this makes total sense.

Yes REI is very high priced but if you need items that last a long time REI is the place. I have two travel shirts that still look fresh even though I bought them over 20 years ago. I also had several convertible pants that I wore for 10 years and only got rid of them because I outgrew them.

Me too. They have top quality long lasting gear though so I always look at what they have for sale then look for it cheaper on ebay.

I have a REI brand lunch bag purchased from them 12 years ago, still holding up well just needs a cleaning. Along with a hiking backpack, used a few times. Still looking new, their products are of good quality IMO.

I would certainly not deny that REI offers high quality items. It's just that similar quality items are available in that market for much less.
