I have never heard of a vet doing a cleaning without anesthesia. A dog is not going to just lay there and cooperate.

The dental cleaning rate seems exhorbitant. I'd look around and see what other vets would charge. If you live in a city, look into traveling out of the city for this treatment (most vets will require a pre-treatment appointment, which means a nominal fee, but you could save hundreds).

The rest of the fees seem quite low to me.

My dog (6 lbs) just had his senior wellness:
Office visit $40
Labs $287
Lepto vaccine $17
Total $344
He had a dental 8 months ago which was $1100. I suspect he will need another one soon.

Any insight on these fees? I am fortunate I can absorb this financially but don’t want to feel ripped off.
Which pet health/medical insurance do you have?

I do not have pet insurance.

I found the dental estimate. It ranged from $650 to $1200 with the actual bill $1100. After decoding the bill and the fact that there were several extractions and my dog has a history of bad teeth that the bill is reasonable under the circumstances.

Thinking back some of the comparisons people are telling me are for simple cleanings and calling them a "dental”, which they are, but are uncomplicated procedures in that instance.

The current issue is they haven’t called back with his blood test results taken on 12/15 (Friday). They said they would call on Monday. No call but i gave it a few days and sent an email. No response after a few days so I called 12/27. Clerk says tests normal but with a confusing note about following up. Clerk says vet is out today and tomorrow (12/28) and no call so now that the holidays are over my patience is running out.

I've never had to take a dog for a cleaning, so I have no idea what's appropriate. I will say the dog does allow us to brush her teeth. Anything beyond that is up in the air.
