Figured I'd start a new thread as I appear to have bumped Trout's thread three times to no avail!! Can I call on fellow Pagans to drop by and post every so often so the janitor doesn't turn off the lights, throw the circuit breaker and padlock the door of this forum...

Anyway, Happy Winter Solstice to all, and to all a short day and long night!

Link below from the American Astronomical Society with some nice photo's and explanation/story of what exactly the Winter Solstice is, and how it has played a role in humankind...

And with a full moon that won't happen again until 2029. So I hear.

Cheers,

Can you imagine how boring Christianity would be if they hadn't stolen all that pagan stuff.

And I don't believe you are "just kidding"

It's just so stupid too, Christians will go on all day speaking of Pagans when Christianity is the one religion that has actually kept Paganism alive, all the while bad mouthing Pagans lol, you can't make this stuff up, turns out, everything Christian is Pagan, apperrantly, Pagans no longer have their high Holy Pagan days and traditions, Chistianity has stolen them and made them their own. I keep telling Christians that the religion they are in is not the religion of Jesus and they beg to differ.

I mean conversion is conversion, you accept the Holy days of Pagans where you keep all the pagan traditions, rituals and ways of a pagan God and it just don't matter if you claim they are of Jesus, and it doesn't matter how much you claim you are in the Christian religion because you are simply a pagan who walks like a pagan, who talks like a Pagan, and who does everything a Pagan does, you are pagan.

If a person converts to all the holy days of Islam with all it's traditions to even make a pilgrimage to Mecca, guess what, you are a Muslim, but Christians don't think it works that way, they think they can keep any holy days of any religion and still claim to be a Christian, what is that about?

God'll get you for that.

Of course I know you didn't mean the Christian/Pagan hybrids who haunt these forums.

Maybe we see Christ as sort of a Pagan himself.

Happy Solstice everyone. I have observed the solstices and equinoxes since I was a little kid without knowing it was a thing that anyone else did.

We are having a nor'easter today here in NJ, heavy rains and high winds, which is disappointing because I usually try on the solstices to rise before dawn and drive the 15 minutes to the ocean to honor and photograph the sunrise, and of course I'm not going to get to see the full moon either unless this mess clears up by evening. Doesn't look promising, but you never know. Sometimes the weather down here nearish to the sea doesn't do what the meteorologists say it's going to do.

May the returning light and new year bring good stuff to you all.

I think it all comes from the same exact place, all of it. That all of it is related. The book of Amos tells us that before there was a Moses, there had already been several other men who came just like Moses to other peoples and nations. That God has always been doing the same thing. It is always two people living side by side where one people will rule over the other, and the slaves always bend their knee to a God because of their suffering and God delievers them and begins again.

I would have prefered to have been born a Dane back in the day when Odin and Thor were great hunters of the Earth. I would have fit right into that culture, '' Take what you can and give nothing back.''

It's just not fair, they got to have all the fun and get to go to Valhala, and then there is me with all my guilt complexed complexedies or however you spell that. I don't think I am any more saved from those people who lived loyal to their beliefs as I believe pretty much all people are going to Valhalla and I pray to God that I die with a sword in my hand.

I would have been the best Pagan of all, at least life would have been fun.
