Oh wow! That's crazy but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

The Legends Tower is planned to be hotel and residential space, along with an observation deck, restaurant, and bar on top.

Okay, the current rental vacancy rate in OKC is 9.4%. Who is going to rent these additional 1,750 apartments? An observation deck, restaurant, bar and a few hundred hotel rooms are sure not going to support a building this big.

It's unfathomable how this project could possibly get financed, even if it was scaled down.

The first structure to surpass the height of the Empire State Building as the tallest structure in the world was the Griffin Television Tower which was actually in Oklahoma City and that occured in 1954.

Next the Empire State Building was surpassed in height as the tallest freestanding structure in the world by the Ostankino Tower in Moscow in 1967.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostankino_Tower
The first actual building taller than the Empire State Building was the now destroyed Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, which surpassed the Empire State Building in 1971 or 1972.

Therefore, the idea of building a notable supertall structure in Oklahoma City is not unprecedented.

If this white elephant ever actually gets built, it's going to be very interesting the first time a tornado whips through Downtown OKC.

Don't worry! It is Oklahoma and not the first rodeo.

Oh man, that'd be horrific! I hope not but I understand the concern.
