It's cheap, but not like it was. The last 15 years and real estate and rent have gotten ridiculous nationally and Ohio is no exception.
The Rust Belt used to be counted on for cheap housing.....the kind of place where you could still get a 3BR ranch for under $100K. Not really any more.

Yeah, you're right: the secret is getting out about Cleveland, though I'm not sure about rest of Ohio. Certainly retail-wise and housing, esp apartment rentals, have jumped dramatically in recent years. I have mixed feelings about this. Of course, me like anyone else, would rather not pay these steeper prices. On the other hand, as someone who loves his hometown, it's great to see that the rest of the country, even the world, are taking notice of the City. The evidence is they are moving with the dollars and, to a greater extend than before, with their feet, as well.

Contrary to popular belief, not every part of Ohio has to deal with mosquitos as not every part is near a lake lol. In southern Ohio I rarely have to deal with them.

I am 65 and lived in Ohio my entire life. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We live in West Central Ohio.

I am not from the Ohio area, but have followed the Cleveland thread for a while because it looks interesting to me. The lake-front parks, an excellent food and music scene, and a plethora of different sports teams seem like there are plenty of things to do for people with a variety of interests. The housing is relatively affordable and the cost of living is lower than the national average.

You are very perceptive ... and correct. Hope you get to visit Cleveland someday, especially in the summertime, when the locals come out of winter hibernation and really rock the town.
