Preliminary plans have been filed with the city of Mebane for a proposed expansion of the Walmart distribution center in the Hawfields-area industrial park, known formally as the North Carolina Commerce Park between Graham and Mebane.

The plans call for the construction of a second warehouse building that would be 599,006 square feet and would be built in front of, to the west and right of, the existing Walmart distribution center at 2837 Sen. Ralph Scott Parkway, which has a Mebane address but is located within the Hawfields community in eastern Alamance County.

Combined with the existing facility that spans 461,516 square feet, the proposed second distribution center would more than double the footprint of the Walmart distribution center, to approximately 1.1 million square feet, based on initial construction plans that Kimley-Horn has filed with the city of Mebane.

At a potential 1.1 million square feet, the Walmart distribution center expansion could eventually eclipse two other distribution centers currently located in the Hawfields-area industrial park.

Cambro Manufacturing has filed plans with the city of Mebane to build a second, 379,672-square foot manufacturing facility that would nearly double the company’s footprint, to almost 1 million square feet, within the North Carolina Industrial Center in Mebane.

Completion of a second facility for Cambro would bring the company’s total square footage within the N.C. Industrial Center (NCIC) to a total of 856,529 square feet, based on the plans that have been filed with the city by Greensboro-based Triad Design Group. Cambro’s first facility opened in 2014 and spans 476,857 square feet, according to Alamance County tax records.

Plans for a large FIVE STORY tall biodome rainforest revealed for the Greensboro Science Center!

The video is about 40 minutes long but this is great news for the Science Center and Greensboro. The Greensboro Science is the only Zoo, Aquarium and Science Center in the state that is all in one facility and now the center will have a unique attraction not found anywhere in the state of North Carolina. In fact the biodome will be the first of its kind on the east coast seaboard. The experience will be breathtaking and you will feel like you are in an actual rain forest. The biodome will be 5 stories in height and a football field in length. It will even have an Aztec style pyramid inside which will be home of some of the primates. It will be complete with tropical ponds, island and many of the plants, animals and birds you see in an actual rain forest. You won't just see the animals and birds, they'll be around you.

The trees will be planted at about 20 feet but will eventually grow upwards to 5 stories to fill the dome.

First look at the redesigned planned Crown Events Center in downtown Fayetteville. The main hall will seat 3,000 with another room that seats 200. The facility will host meetings, plays, community events and eventually Broadway performances. It will seat more than DPAC in Durham and match the seating capacity of the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro. The seating arrangement will be a little different from a typical performing arts theater with retractable chairs in the main hall.

The facility had been redesigned to be built within budget. The rooftop terrace was removed. But still an impressive front facade. This is a game changer for downtown Fayetteville and will surely attract more restaurants and development. Looks like Fayetteville is trying to become a city now!

Greensboro plans some additions at its downtown multi-modal transportation hub, the Douglas Galyon Depot which was built in 1926 and consists of the Amtrak Station, city and regional bus hub and greyhound bus terminal.

Plans include an outdoor public events space, splash pad, food hall, public market, food truck area and more.

On land adjacent to the Depot there are plans for a shipping container hub for retail and other small businesses. Quite fitting being located next to a train station. Cities such as Portland and Las Vegas have similar retail shipping hubs downtown.
