You’re smarter than this.

For instance, CA doesn’t even consider crime to be crime anymore so there goes that statistic in comparison to cities that are law and order. Then weather is personal preference or tolerance, the school ratings (are kids even allowed to go to school in CA?) are all whacked out with social justice parameters and Henderson is probably more affordable than N NV.
Let’s see...Irvine CA is rated fantastic.
What about political environment? Local and county government quality and politics is very important for many.
Open space and nature trails? My city allows dogs off-leash on most of the extensive network of open-space trails, love this!
Regulatory structure? Tax burden?
Traffic?
Scenery and views?
Can you go skiing on fresh powder in the high Sierra in the morning and walk along a warm, dry river trail in the valley with your dogs that afternoon?
So many variables....

Exactly. That's why there's an old saying that "comparisons are odious" which means it's a fool's errand to try and judge apples vs oranges. It's in the eye of the beholder and how that person measures the variables against their own set of criteria and the criteria can vary greatly between persons. There are some objective numbers that can be reviewed but so much else is both highly subjective and variable. That's why in the TOS we ask people to tell us what really matters to them, as much particulars as possible, so our posters can actually help them.

Area Vibes tells you how they get their rating.

When we were looking for a place to retire to, I didn't find that site particularly helpful.

Probably because what they had (from memory) wasn't high on our list, things like walkability and such.

Bestplaces gives similar info. I never mentioned California, in the ratings.

Actually Best Places has Reno listed in the top ten best places to live: Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site
Personally, I think Carson City is a nicer community than Reno.
Professional, good-policy city leadership; a higher quality of life; safer; less growing pains, but I’m partial to smaller, conservative communities.

Why you think one numerical data point of one website is a valid indicator is beyond me. You tout Henderson with a high score, yet you choose Carson City over Las Vegas.

Tell me how livable it is in Wyoming this week. Have fun with your below zero weather and snow.

By the way this is for Mikala, from our day trip today...

Cold? Yes, cold with my inverter AC running in my Bangkok condo. Just paid the 30 Dollar electric bill, the 3.70 water bill, and the 7 Dollar broadband bill.

I have never liked Carson but love Reno. Vegas is too big and hot for me.

OK, 92 degrees and 50+ humidity. If we thought money was the number one issue we'd all be living in Bangkok. Have fun. Why you persist in trolling here is peculiar.

Sorry Mikala, I finally got a proper photo hosting link. The food was pretty good!
