I was never the biggest Tyron Woodley fan, but I sure hope he knocks out that sorry excuse for a human, Jake Paul. Woodley wasn't the best striker at Welterweight, but he had some speed, and he could hit with thumping power in his right hand. He is 39yo now, but he does look like he's in great shape for the fight.

For his part, Jake Paul has a considerable size advantage, and although I thought he was *only* a YouTube loudmouth, he's apparently been training at boxing, with boxers, for 3 years now, so he's probably got a good deal more actual boxing training under his belt than Woodley.

Betting lines are heavily favoring Jake Paul here, and Woodley is not a true boxer, or even an elite MMA striker, plus he's a smaller fighter, again. But he's a lot more of a striker than Ben Askren was, and I am sure he's got a chance at knocking out Jake Paul if he's learned in his recent boxing training, they have a decent fight plan for him, and his mind is right.

Is Wood broke? That he is even doing this is just embarrassing. Dude has been on a downward spiral for years now.

Woodley is 39 and he lost his last 4 fights in the UFC, so I don't know if he has anywhere really to go in the UFC anymore. Now, the guys he lost to were all first rate, but still, for someone who once held the title himself, what's really left to do in the UFC?

I can't stand Jake Paul, but there's no denying that he is able to generate a lot of fan interest, which translates into dollars. I wouldn't be surprised if Woodley makes at least 3-4x in this fight what he made in his best paid fight in the UFC. So I don't know if he's broke, I just imagine he likes the challenge and likes the chance to make a big payday. Still not sure where Woodley would go next even if he wins - he's not really a boxer. But he doesn't need a long term strategy at this stage - win or lose, this fight could set him up well to retire if he is careful with his money. Woodley's manager wasn't very specific, but he did say his man should earn a multi-million dollar pay package for this fight with Jake Paul.

Welp, Woodley's cautious tactics allowed him to avoid any heavy damage from Paul. Of course, while he didn't expose himself to too much danger, with little offense, this same caution caused him to lose the fight. No one to blame but himself. He did ring up a big payday though - better than anything the UFC ever gave him.

Jake Paul just called out Jorge Masvidal and Dana White rightly shot back "Go fight somebody your own size!". Jake Paul is 6ft1 and he has to cut a good deal of weight to get down to 190.

He really should be fighting career prime, age 25-35 highly ranked pro *boxers* who are his size, since trains boxing and he only fights in boxing matches and calls himself "an elite fighter". But if he's going to box UFC guys, at least box a UFC middleweight, and one currently ranked in the top 3:
  • Israel Adesanya
  • Robert Whittaker
  • Paulo Costa

Jake would still have the big advantage of being the only boxing specialist in the ring in a boxing contest, but any of these guys would at least be his size and still in their prime.

Paul/Woodley 2 is in the books, and Jake Paul won by a resounding knockout. He's now calling out Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal for boxing. Diaz and Masvidal are both tough guys, and they're well known, but both are in their late 30s, they're much smaller than Paul, and they're mixed martial artists, not boxers.

While Paul is not just a random YouTube loudmouth as I thought at first, he continues to stack the deck massively in his favor with these matchups. Paul weighed in at a chiseled 190 for this fight and I guarantee he cuts a good deal of weight to make 190. He should *at least* be fighting UFC middleweights, and someone closer to his age and an up and coming contender - a top 5 fighter, not someone who's older and is on the back side of their career and has suffered multiple KOs. And to restate the obvious, he's trained as a boxer, he's fighting by boxing rules, but he's not fighting boxers!

Well I hope you are right and he saved that money. He's going to need it now because his fight career just died.
